TS Fact #1

Turner Syndrome, occurring in 1 out of every 2000 - 2500 live female births, is when one of a female's two X chromosomes is partially or fully missing.  

Proud to be 1 in 2000!!

February is Turner Syndrome Awareness month!

This little known chromosomal condition, which occurs only in girls, is completely random.  Your sister, mother, daughter, or niece can be effected by TS.  Which means it is important to learn the symptoms and bring your concerns to your doctor.

Each day for the rest of the month, I will post about the history, symptoms, facts and ways to spread awareness for TS.

2014!!

It has been 14 years since the millennium!  What!?!  Time sure does fly.  And here we are again, ushering in a new year.  A fresh start full of endless opportunities.  But, ushering in a new years forces us to reflect on the year we leave behind.  It is safe to say that 2013 is a year I will never forget.  It was the year I finally started working towards my career as a librarian.  It was the year the Red Sox won the World Series, the third in my lifetime and eighth overall.  It was the year we learned what the fox says.  And, most importantly, 2013 gave me my beautiful niece, Mackenzie.  Who knows what 2014 has in store for me.  A new job?  A new boyfriend?  A new apartment?  But, I look forward on going on this exciting ride.

I hope 2014 grants all your hopes and dreams!!  

Summers Come And Summers Go

The most dreaded countdown of the year has begun.  There are only 3 more days left of summer vacation.  And this back to school season will be extra stressful.  Not only am I coming back to my two jobs on the 4th; I am starting my first semester of the Rutger's University Online MLIS Program the day before!!  Don't get me wrong, I am extremely excited to start the new school year; but I wish everything wasn't being thrown back at me all at once.  I almost wish the MLIS program started a week earlier so I could get myself on a study schedule before going back to work.  Oh well.  I am ready.  I am motivated.  I have a ton of support, and it will all work out!!  Besides, Fall is my favorite season.  The crisp cool air, the gorgeous colored leaves, and the smell of apple cider, pumpkins, and fresh pencils and notebooks!!  I just want to go for long hikes in the woods, carve a pumpkin and make apple pies.  Something tells me this will be a Fall I will never forget!!  

One? Two? Three?

When it comes to a movie, how many copies does a person need?  One? Two?  Apparently, we all need three copies of a single movie.  One Blue Ray copy, one DVD copy and one Digital copy.   I went to buy a movie that just came out Blue Ray.  I could not, for the life of me, find it on Blue Ray by itself.  I could buy it on a single DVD, but I have a Blue Ray player, so why would I buy a DVD copy?  In the end, I reluctantly bought the triple package sure never to use the DVD or Digital Copy.  I suppose I could find friends to give the superfluous copies to; but until then, they will take up space in my movie case.  I just wonder if I will have to go through this every time I want to buy a new release.

Tattoo #2!!

3 years and 8 months after I got my first tattoo, I finally, have my second!

I couldn't find the picture I took of the actual tattoo; but here is what it looks like.  It's the symbol for the Astrological sign Leo.

I got the tattoo on the back of my neck underneath my hair line.  I've always loved that placement, as well as on the back of the wrist; but I didn't want to put it in a place you can see constantly.  Maybe, eventually.  Who knows!!

I went to Pure Ink Tattoo Palor in Ledgewood, NJ.  They were having a fundraiser for a little boy with a serious illness.  What a perfect time to get it done, right?  I was nervous going into the room; but not as much as when I got my first one.  The artist was great and it only took him about 15 mins to do!! That was my favorite part of the whole process!!

I already know what I want for my third tattoo!!  When people say tattoos are addicting, they aren't kidding!

Rock-A-Bye-Baby!!

I'm going to be an Aunt!!

My sister and her husband are expecting their first child in February!!  We are all so excited!  I can't wait to hold my niece or nephew and feel their little hand in mine!  I can't wait to spoil him or her with candy and toys then send them back to their parents!  I can't wait to babysit!  I can't wait to start planning the baby shower!!

This will be an amazing six months with many many adventures to come after!!
